Council admits they were wrong
I had a PCN issued because my car wheels were not completely in the bay. However if the car had been completely in the bay I would struggle getting out because on the pavement there were metal restrictions which seem to serve no other purpose but to prevent drivers from getting out of their cars easily.I appealed the ticket and the council has written to me apologising because after their investigations that ticket should not have been issued and they have overturned it.My major complaint is that they caused me distress by issuing a ticket which in their words should not have been issued. How do I proceed now that they have admitted their error.Motorists are not allowed to make mistakes so I think the councils also should not make mistakes. They should also be held to a higher standard which is what they are setting for us.I intend writing to them with my complaint and I aim to get compensation for the distress. Is that possible or should I be content with the overturning of the ticket and forget the issue.

you don't. you should be content that they overturned it and you don't have to pay a fine.0

They were wrong. You appealed. You won.
Now get on with your life.
You won't get compensation for the distress of apealing a parking ticket.0 -
if you think you should get compensation... just remember that it would come out of your council tax, so any council tax rises are from paying compensation.0

If the ticket had been issued in genuine error, then I would say good luck to you. Under those circumstances I think they should be made to invite you to reclaim your expenses, if any, as you should not be left disadvantaged by their mistake.
However, you admit parking over the line. It seems like in this case they may have used their discretion to cancel the ticket, e.g. they did not have to cancel it, but they did so out of goodwill. If that is the case, then I'd be happy with that, and wouldn't try taking the matter any further.0 -

You want to claim compensation for distress caused. Wont the claim process cause you just as much distress?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

You'd think so but that seems to magically never happen for some reason!0
