Job Seekers - Already found Job

Hi,
OH has recently been given notice at work, and she's already found another job, but there is a 4 week gap between leaving her current one and starting the new one.
Can she claim contribution based JSA for that period even though she won't be 'seeking' as such? Can she just go in and say she's already found one, give them the letter and they will just pay up until then?
I can't find any info on what happens once you've been offered a job.
TIA.

No, to claim job seekers you have to be actively seeking work.Moving onto a better place...Ciao :wave:0

If it was me, personally. I would sign on and not even mention the job then sign off in 4 weeks and say you have "found" a job in such and such a place.0

its refreshing to see somebody who openly supports benefit fraud0 -
Just go and get Agency work for four weeks.
There are lots of temporary jobs around in Agencies.
Long-term 'jobseekers' just don't want them.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
OP, is the gap after all notice is worked or is her notice being paid? does she have any holiday pay due to her?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Do the rules say you have to be seeking long term work? the op could still try and get 4 weeks work to fill her time during which time she would be entitled to jsa. My daughter was paid jsa for 5 weeks when her job finished and she was waiting to start uni.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

Temporary work is a waste of space and a waste of time! No gaurantee pay on time, most being lay off without pay if manager don't want them to work. Will cause too many problem with WTC with let them know you no longer work, you now working, you no longer work, you now working and so on to get WTC mix up and errors.
I don't blame long term unemployed to reject any temporary jobs.0 -
Thanks for the comments so far guys. It seems a bit crazy that we get penalised for making such an effort and getting something sorted so quickly but that's the way things work I suppose.paddedjohn wrote: »OP, is the gap after all notice is worked or is her notice being paid? does she have any holiday pay due to her?
It's a 4 week gap after her final day. She has 1 week holiday to be paid.
Would they accept her searching for temporary work up to that point then? Go in, say been offered a job starting middle of January but looking for temporary work up until then?
Christmas is such a sucky time to let someone go!0 -
Yep I would do the same.BrettMorganxD wrote: »If it was me, personally. I would sign on and not even mention the job then sign off in 4 weeks and say you have "found" a job in such and such a place.0 -
Nothing stopping you from signing on and looking for a job, even though have one to go to in 4 weeks.
You still dont have a job for 4 weeks so you can search for a job and claim JSA.0
