E-on have no right to increase dd by £20 when I'm only £6 in debit!

Usually you'd expect to pay more than what you're using during the summer months. So you'd be paying £35 a month but actually using say £5-£10 a month. Unfair right? maybe not.
The idea is that you'd build up a credit balance for the winter because during the colder months you'd be using more than what you're paying for.
If you've been using more than £35 a month this year already this year with the longer days and higher temperatures, then things will only get worse over the winter when the temperature drops and the lights are on for longer.
I hope this helps, but you have the Eon rep here so use their expertise0 -
I have used 1.585 kwh of electricity between 26th May and 19th Nov and my water is heated with an ecodan heat source pump.
Hiya,
Do you mean 1,585 kWh? the average electricity usage for a home with gas on a single rate meter is 3,300 kWh.
You do need credit on the account at this time of year to help with those larger bills.
But ask for the calculations and see if you can come to an agreement with your payments.

Had my bi-annual statement from E-on today and my bill was £7.72 in debit. Looked at my meter readings and they are different - worked out that I am £5.50-6 in debit
My dd is £35 a month - I only have electric to my property. They want me to pay £55 a month as from Dec's payment! I understand £5 increase but not £20!
In the phone queue to vent my spleen and ask them to make the dd at £38-40!
I want to see some regulations about this.
I'm currently in credit with Eon to the tune of £292 (combined gas & elec) after the November bill. They wrote to me saying the £111pcm direct debit would increase to £140 based on that bill and the price rises. I checked out the gas reading used for this, and it was an over-estimate, so I submitted a revised reading and they have credited me with the difference (all good). However, nothing seemed to have prompted the system to take a second look at the direct debit.
However, I did go onto the online account management tool and select the direct debit option - after going through the various pages it then presented me with a new DD amount, based on the computer predictions. This is now £118, which (after the recent price rises) feels OK.
So if you are complaining about being in debt to Eon by a few ££ at the moment, unless you plan not to heat your house over the winter, it would seem perfectly sensible to increase the DD - even though I am almost 3 months in credit, I reckon (based on past year's usage over the winter) that I will use this, plus the 3 DD payments that I will make over the next 3 months, to cover the fuel costs this winter, and end up just about at a nil balance in Feb.
I would strongly suggest going online and looking at the graphs of usage that Eon provide. If, however, you really really don't use any extra fuel over the winter because your heat pump provides all of your heating needs, then perhaps it is worth talking to Eon to let them know that you have a non-standard usage pattern.
HTH!
