Options
Sorry I put this on the debt forum by mistake first please remove it thanks.

I found out today that a purchase was made 13 months ago on a card that had lain inactive for over 3 years.

Is it too late to claim? The sum was £89

You could try but i doubt very much whether you'll get anywhere, it's your responsibility to check statements.

I didnt get any. I opted for paper free and just forgot about it as I no longer used the card

So ok if I cannot now claim and have to pay for the debt myself, can I clear my credit rating?

What do you mean by unauthorised?
Do you mean a continuous authority you forget to cancel?
Do you mean your ex used your card without your permission?
Or do you mean it's fraud?
Or did you have a dispute with a company?

I'm not being nosey, it affects the answer.

Hi I mean I did not make the purchase. I may have ordered from the company in the past.

So you need to speak to the company involved to see why they debited you. It wasn't one of these free trial companies was it ? Like weight loss products or teeth whitening ?

I spoke to the company and they say they have no record nor do they have my email address. I get the feeling I may have ordered from them in the past. They were supposed to ring me back but have not.I found out their landline no and will ring again - not 0845!

OK it seems that I did make the purchase from the address they had but the card details do not match up with my old credit card which has resulted in me being chased by debt collectors without me knowing. Its a total mystery. If I made an error and used the old credit card why do the numbers not match otor the expiry date.

Do the card details match your previous card ? If a card is replaced because it expires, only the expiry changes, if a card is reported lost or stolen the card number AND the expiry will change. Did you report a card lost/stolen at all ?

The card which has been used apparently, according to the credit card company has remained in my possession all of the time albeit stashed away somewhere as it was not in use.

The details do not match at all. I have to get to the bottom of this as it has ruined my credit rating.
