Wickes Kitchen Price Breakdown

ive just had a quote from wickes for a new kitchen and its come in 10k which seems insanely expensive considering how cheap some people on here claim to have bought theres for..

They wouldnt let me take away the price breakdown however I took a picture on my phone http://i.imgur.com/UhCrx.jpg im wondering how much margain do they actually have? and how much I could expect to barter off this price?

Funny enough had the same problem a few weeks ago.

The kitchen the boss had set her heart on when we started building at the start of the year had somehow gone up almost £2k.

I tried to barter offering cash and also had a Wickes trade card but was a waste of time.

In the end we walked away and ended up buying a bespoke kichen hand made with better quality appliances for about £1400 more than we were going to pay Wickes

There pricing seems to be based on overinflation and massive discount to a level that is still quiete pricey for an MDF box ie. a 500mm Tall Larder Unit is worth nearly a grand according to there prices yet I can have it for £500..
  • I have also just had a quote from wickes to replace my kitchen units and really dont like the whole '50% sale' thing - as if anyone would buy at the 'original' prices when these discounts are very regular. I heard that Benchmarx have the same units as Wickes (and have the same owners) so am due to get a price from them tomorrow morning.. Then i guess i'll see just how good wickes' prices actually are!

I agree the problems with the inflated prices and then applying discounts doesn't wash with me either.

To be honest although we ended up paying a bit more we have got a far better quality kitchen which adds value to the house and also is a better fit being tailor made.

It's Wickes loss and our gain .......as had the prices not increased so much we probably would have just walked in and paid what we expected to pay

What on earth is the "template" for £237.30?! Is that still related to the sink? Which seems to consist of sink, drainer, installation and tap hole (they would otherwise supply it without a hole for the tap?!) already.

Take a look round your local area, there are often local high street shops with nice displays who can do good work, but make sure you research them first. We have several good local companies.

For all those above shocked by Wickes current prices but who like the product may I suggest waiting until December 20th when the winter sale starts.

I think that those upstairs running Wickes K&B are currently sniffing a tanker full of Vicks and about to do something sensible with prices!
