Talktalk and MAC code

I am in the process of switching from BT to TalkTalk. I was given a MAC code from BT but TalkTalk have never asked for this.
Do they not need it? If TT don't use it will this not incur me a charge from BT?

If you are going to TT LLU (i.e. "free" broadband) then you will be disconnected from BT's equipment in the exchange anyway. However I think it makes things easier if you give TT the MAC code so that BTs systems can be updated properly.
That said, if you have a go-live date from TT, I'd suggest emailing BT with this info and giving them formal notice of cancellation of your account - just to be safe.
