No cd's - I upgraded WMP 10 from it's website, but WMP 9 was already on the PC. We bought the PC from a reputable PC shop (2nd hand PC). Is it worth getting the shop to do something or is it something I can do?0

Go to Control Panel, select performance and maintanance (if in catagory view) then select system. Click on the Hardware tab on the dialogue box then select device manager.Click the plus at the side of DVD/CD drives and your drive should be in there. (This should tell you the make and model unless it a generic one) If it is not there or if it has a exclamation mark next to it then it needs reinstalling.
If it's not there - to reinstall, go to add new hardware in control panel (Printers and other hardware then click on add new hardware on left hand side if in catagory view) and follow the instructions.
If it's there with an exclamation mark then right click it and select uninstall. It should reinstall itself after a couple of mins, if not reboot and should detect on start up or see if its not there above.
If it is there and no exclamation marks, try updating the driver (right-click). It's worth being connected to the net at this point.

sorry but some people on here are just so dumb sometimes, WMP10 means an application that you download from windows to up-grade WMP9 that you get with windows xp, WMP means "windows media player", so its not something you buy and put in next to your dvd or cd-rom its an application, that works within windows xp.
