Idiot Hotmail question about unrecognised ID

Please can someone cleverer than I am help ? Yesterday I opened a new hotmail account to separate my own mails from a small business interest's mails. To cut a long story short it won't recognise my new 'Windows Live ID' today, tho I wrote it down and know I have it correctly. And there seems to be no help facility which addresses that problem - just a means of getting a new password - but if it won't recognise your ID you're stuck. So today I opened another account, and blow me down it's done the same thing again. I closed it and then went back in to check and all was well, but 5 mins later it said there was no such ID so I'm completely stuck again.
can anyone out there tell me what I have got wrong, or is it Hotmail's fault ? I need this second account and am about to lose business for want of it,

The windows Live ID when you sign in is the full email address (whatever @ hotmail.com/uk). Simply signing in later with the portion of the address before the @ sign isn't going to work.
Hotmail is not the only source for an email address. Other providers available include GMail, Yahoo and the one provided by your ISP.0 -
Thanks Neil, I did put in the entire new address (for new account) and for both new accounts I set up it now says that there is no such Windows Live ID - which is mad since I set up two different accounts with two different IDs, one yesterday and one today, which it just doesn't recognise after the first login.
Will have to go with someone else I suppose, but am just used to how hotmail works. Thanks...0
