All electric house, no heating - any ideas?

We are moving to a new house in March which has no heating. It is a small 2 bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom. Built about 10 yrs ago, but the original storage heaters have been removed. At the moment the house is all electric, and there is no mains gas. We want an environmentally and cost effective option for heating the house. There is an immersion tank for hot water but we would need to get either LPG or Oil installed (there is plenty of space for a tank in the garden), but we have no experience of either. What is the best option? We are buying this house, and will probably be in it for at least 3 years.
Any suggestions welcome!

Probably the best option is to get a modern storage heating system with(of course) an Economy 7 tariff.
The systems are cheap to install and, importantly, have no annual servicing costs to worry about.
If you do a search on this forum you will find an article published in the Daily Telegraph that put forward a compelling case for E7 Storage heating in smaller properties.0 -
good advice, if you are not going to be in the house for long. it will be the cheapest to install. i had the same problem and went for LPG because i hate storage heaters and will be in the house for a long time. cost more to install be i dont need a crystal ball to predict tomorrows weather as you do with storage heaters.0

Hi Tjak....time and money spent on insulating the property is never wasted.
And at some stage work out the amount of hot water used per day. Little point in heating a full tank of water if not needed.0
