Then phone your supplier now, they will give you the info immediately.
Armed with your annual kWh figures, put them into any comp site and you will see what your annual total should be-your DD should be 1/12 of this.

That's simply your last electricity bill, April-October. I thought we were concerned with your gas consumption?

OPs gas account is fine - has had a refund and is still in credit.
The ele has been estimated since April and OP thinks it has Bern under estimated by 3000 kWh. If this has happened in the last 7 months since the last reading it would suggest about 4600 kWh annual usage and this will see a dramatic jump in the DD.

Oops, I stand corrected. But still a very worthwhile exercise to work out annual consumption anyway at this point and then use a comp site to check how competitive the tariff is. And obviously the OP needs to update readings ASAP.
I still find £27pm very low for gas on a dual fuel tariff, I assume the gas rebate was issued against an actual readings and not an estimate?

  • Yes it was actual readings thankfully!

  • Yeah will get on to it asap. Not at home so cant check meter at mo, just going on what my husband told me. If it is as bad as I think, am going to see if I can pay the debt straight off, as I dont want it over our heads.

I only paid £30 per month last year and that came in pretty spot on! When I started working for BG I quickly learned that I am a low user and not to compare my usage with that of customers I speak with. I have seen DDs range from 15 to 500 per month (and the customer thought it should be higher!)

As always though, you are spot on to say the OP needs accurate bills ASAP and to try to understand where the energy is being used.
  • Thanks again for all your advice yesterday. Turns out my OH had read the meter incorrectly, so disaster has been adverted, the reading is what it should be.
