For about 6 years, I have always bought a new nokia phone every year without fail. I have taken other phones in the past but could never get used to the key layouts for texting - it's second nature to me on a Nokia and I can text without even looking at the keypad!
In January, I got the 6230 and at the same time, I got a Samsung e330 for my OH's daughter. Well, I was really impressed with the range of tones on the Samsung! The Nokia didn't even come close. I was also impressed with the difference in clarity with the Samsung compared to the Nokia.
I returned the 6230 after a week for the reasons mentioned above but additionally, the 6230 has a central button (as in the cursor is one big button and then "select" option is in the centre of the cursor) and I often found that when I pressed it, it selected the "up" cursor instead. Does that make sense? Don't think I've worded that too well! Anyway, I found this quite annoying. I also thought the overall look of the phone was "plain". So.....I sent the phone back and got a D500 instead and although it took a short while to get used to texting, I haven't looked back! It's a brillaint little phone. Sounds good, looks good, lots of features, more than enough memory for my liking. My only (minor) gripe would be that the little plate that covers the bit where you plug the charger in can be easily lost; I don't understand why they didn't make it slide back into the phone like the plate for the microphone pluggy in bit. The liitel microphone is cool by the way! :jI have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0 -
Not thought of the Sony Ericsson S700i ?.
I've always had nokia's ever since the 3210 and i waited ages for the 6630 to come out, when it came out i got it and it's the worst phone i have seen, i then tried the s700i and i've never looked back, it's easy to use and the battery is lasting 1 week where the 6630 was lasting less than 1 day.
The sony ericsson is very easy to use, it has a memory card also and the camera on it is great, the imagesjust look like a digital camera quality.
And like i say i was always used to using Nokia's and never thought i'd leave them, but for a 6630 to be one of the most advanced and upto date phone available, i was dissapointed and found the s700i to be great.0 -
6230 0.3 vga camera
d500 1.3 megapixel camera with flash, and no limit on video recording
6230 96 mb memory and bluetooth which can be used to bluetooth your photo's to those kodak machines; so no need for a removable memory card
6230 screen 65000 colours
d500 screen 256000 colours
d500 64 channel polyphonic vs 24 channel on 6230 (reason it sounds so much better!)
6230 standby up to 300 hours, talktime up to 5 hours
d500 standby up to 380 hours, talktime up to 8 hours
6230 has been out for ages, very dated. I find I always press UP instead of pressing the joystick in when trying to select OK on 6230 very irritating.
If thinking about the 6230i then you may as well wait for the sony ericsson K750i a LOT better. :beer:0 -
