Inside car Window- Liquid Solution - Preventing Steamed windows ?
Comments
-
Have you made sure your hot air blower is on fresh outside air rather than recycling the air within the cabin?0
-
Condensation on the inside is caused by damp.
I have a 1kg bag of silica gel in the car. I dry it out in the house on a radiator once a week and leave it in the car the rest of the time - makes a huge difference.
Where can one get a bag of silica gel from?Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problemsWell at least i learn something on the way

You should be paying about £5-6 for a 500g bag.

Either your local local chemist or florist, or online.

Presumably that comes in a sealed plastic bag or by the time it got to you it would weigh 10x as much, so what do you put in when you get it home?
Suppose you can just scatter it inside the car0 -
I agree with the air-con comment above - a by-product, so to speak, of using the air-con in that it dries the air ( which is why you'll sometimes see a little puddle of water under the car when you park after using it ). But yes, without re-igniting the fuel consumption debate, it does require power to run the system - though the general advice is that you should run the system periodically ( something like 10 minutes per week ????? ) even in winter to keep everything lubricated.
Anyhow, that aside, you'll always get condensation to some degree if there's moisture in the air. The only permanent solution is to remove the moisture - whether that's by air-con, silica gel, improved ventilation, stopping everyone from breathing, whatever :-)
Just keeping your windscreen and windows clean will help to a large degree, without having to resort to any special coatings, cleaners or such like.0 -
the OP wants to know how to reduce steaming up of inside window not how to clean it.
Try gillette or cheap shaving foam - its amazing. Try it on ure bathroom mirror polish it off then have a shower. it will not steam up.
squirt on the inside of the windscreen then buff off.
Keeping the inside of the windscreen clean will go a long way to prevent steaming up and speed clearing.0 -
Best solution is to use your cars aircon along with the heating, this reduces the inside humidity, thus reducing the moisture that can stick to the inside of the windscreen. Just like my reply to your post about external frost, only the opposite way around.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Cleaning the windows is the first step in keeping the windows clear. If you leave the plasticiser build up and if you smoke the tobacco film on the windows then they will steam up far quicker than a squeaky clean window.
As others have said, have the air selector lever/button set to fresh air and not recirculating. One of my car manuals recommends the air flow selector set to combined windscreen/floor and to make sure all the air vents are open for winter driving.
RainX Anti-Fog works up to a point. If it becomes supersaturated then it's worse than not using it. Also if you have a satnav suction cup/anything else stuck to your windows and use Anti-Fog near it then the chemical will leech under your suction cup and cause it to fall off repeatedly. You then have to clean it off with a glass cleaner. The man without a signature.0
