Need to Treat New Oak Staircase

Hi Folks,
I had a custom Oak (American White) Staircase fitted a few months ago and I was hoping for some advice on what to treat it with. Do I vanish/oil/wax? Please could you anyone recommend a specific product?
Unfortunately the staircase has been exposed to dust and has dirt scuff marks where our shoes have scuffed against the risers. Do I need to re-rand the staircase to remove these marks or will the treatment cover this?
Thanks for your help

I'd sand with a decent/fast/trade orbital sander on a fine grade paper (150 grit or so) to remove any scuffs or marks then finish with something like fiddes hard wax oil (great stuff IMO - east to apply and very hard wearing)

I fitted one of these last year, I waxed it with some soft wax from B&Q, result was lovely. I def would not varnish it, takes away the nice natural look (although some satin ones are nice)“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Thanks for the replies. I will order a few samples
Will a wax finish make the stairs slippery though?0
