Tesco mobile/Samsung Galaxy Mini help for either?!

Hi all.....

So, i have bought a new Galaxy Mini today - on Tesco mobile... i would have preferred to unlock the phone but as it costs £20 and i am skint, i have stuck with the Tesco for now BUT.... When i FIRST switched on the phone, it offered me 3 options: O2 Prepay, O2 Monthly or Tesco...... Does this mean i could use an O2 sim in the phone>?????? Cos i cant see why it would have offered those options......?

Also, if i TRY to pop my O2 sim in, will it TOTALLY destroy the phone? On the Tesco website it says to NEVER put another networks SIM into the phone etc etc.... is this just a scare tactic??? Or will it truly mess up the phone?? HELP! :A
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

Can you provide a link to the text that suggests that?

Cant find the page i was looking at now (tesco phone website is a right old experience lol!) but have copied and pasted something sounding similar "If you wish to use another network's SIM, you will need to arrange for it be unlocked. If this is the case, you must not insert another operator's SIM card into the mobile without an unlatching code (this is not your PIN code)."

Just sounds a bit scary! lol

I thought that may have been a response, anyways upon your 2nd look, the correct text is there, possibly the handset will not function whilst another operators sim card is in situ. The handsets are often subsidised, and whilst you may not take advantage of the subsidy, other people can and do.
  • okaay... so but does that mean that by popping my current o2 sim into the Galaxy, it will BREAK the phone? Or simply that it wont ACCEPT the SIM card and as therefore soon as i take the SIM out and put the Tesco one back in it will be fine again??

I would say may not accept the sim from another operator, but yes will work once the original is returned.
