Honestly? I think it's our Anti-virus software - all worked fine until we changed to AVG and now it's slow and sluggish, random annoyances and pop-up memory warnings  seen another one recommended so gonna change it to that when I get more than 10 mins at a time to sit down :rotfl:

Now the funny thing is :rotfl: ...

I wouldn't use anything but AVG.
I've used it, AND ONLY IT, on every PC I've ever owned - currently running it on 3 systems - desktop, laptop & a netbook.

Norton and AVAST were the standard issue at work some years ago on the company provided machines and had loads of problems - usually with the PC doing strange things because they had a virus on them - and these anti-virus programs were the fully paid-up professional versions.

The scans would be clear so I usually loaded the FREE AVG program and lo and behold - it would find viruses the others didn't and the problems would go away.

Never had a problem with it and it has definitely saved me from some dodgy websites, infected downloads and emails containing viruses, trojans and worms etc. on several occasions :)

On the very few occasions I'VE BEEN STUPID  and not had AVG loaded or running AND done a silly thing (like downloading a USB memory stick reprogramming/reformatting tool for a specific chipset from a Russian website where only 1 word in 100 is actually English) .......

AVG has come to the rescue

NOT always directly - since in the above case the virus specifically stopped ANY anti-virus software from running or even being loaded once it was on the PC (and I had to go through quite a complicated routine to remove it) but whilst it was loaded it allowed other viruses and trojans etc. to "infest" the PC.

The favoured Malwarebytes (see MSE Techie Stuff forum) suggested (when I asked for advice) for fixing these types of problems found a few viruses etc. and sorted them out, subsequent scans ran clear and it provided a clean bill of health - (as did a Symantec AV - ie Norton - program that I'd loaded because it supposedly "very specifically" fixed the initial problem I had :rotfl: NOT) - BUT my PC still kept doing odd things. Reloaded AVG and it found OVER 1000 infected files - which it sorted and ALL THE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY :j

Remove AVG at your PERIL

You can easily stop the pop up memory warnings......

In AVG go to Tools > Advanced Settings > Appearance > Untick 'Display AVG Advisor Performance Notifiations' > Apply > OK

It was driving me mad too!!!!!

Thanks - I've noticed most of them and saved some but the more I go through the posts I see a lot of chat about coupons and thought I was missing something. Was just wondering where all the other coupons ppl chat about where and was it somethingto do with the coupon printer people mention!
