Faulty Kettle - Argos

Hi all.
I purchased a Russell hobs kettle in about march/april this year from Argos.
It was a model that had a whistling tune (the mrs loves that suff) but if we leave the whistling sound to o'on' (you can turn it 'off') it makes a horrible electrical cracking sound.
My mate is electrician and suggested not to us it if it was making such a noise.
Can i return this to Argos (bought on my Argos card) and will they replace it or send if off for repair? Obviously i don't want to be without a kettle!
thanks

Worth trying. Take it in and see what they say. If they do decide to send it off to have it checked or repaired, just use a pan to boil your water till it's sorted.0

Ask the store first and see what they say. We really cant advise you what they will say as sometimes you get people who do not know the SoGA and other times you'll get really good staff that go above and beyond the SoGA (the staff in my local Argos fall into the latter category thankfully).
Do come back and let us know how you get on thoughYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I'd return it and tell them you are a bit concerned with its electrical safety. If they insist on having it repaired I'd have a polite chat with the manager and explain that you would not like to be without a kettle.0

If getting to Argos is a pain ring Russell Hobs they have fantastic customer service they will probably send you a new one out0

The retailer can offer a repair instead of replacement if they feel this is appropriate.0 -
Or just buy a £3 kettle from Tesco in the meantime. Always good to have a backup kettle! One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

They'll probably just replace it. I don't think Russell Hobbs repair kettles, so there's no real point in Argos doing the same.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Let us know when you are going back.
I want to be there when you say "My kettle won't whistle".0 -

We have had a few kettles from argos over the past 2 years, Another item they dont make like they used to.
Mix of plastic and metals that all expand and contract at different rates means they leak quite often.
Complaints of plastic smells and flavour that sometimes does not clear with use.
They have always exchanged the items without quibble.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
