Carphonewarehouse Upgrade options??

Hi there I recieved a phonecall on my lunch break at work today from Carphonewarehouse as I was due an upgrade from my Nokia Express Music (Easily the worst phone ever). The advisor asked what phone I would be interested in and after a discussion about either the Samsung Galaxy and the Iphone 4S I decided on the 4S. I didnt really try to haggle as I was in a bit of a rush by that time, so the phone is being delivered to my base tommorow (I am in the Royal Navy) but after speaking to a few people with Iphone 4S's Im under the impression I could maybe have held off and shopped around? The tarrif I was told I would be on was 900 mins, unlimited texts and 500mb of data for £42 a month. Any ideas on what I should do? Am I entitled to return the handset/cancel the new agreement as it was over the phone and then maybe haggle/look for a new deal? Also any experience with Military Discount with O2 if you have went through Carphonewarehouse and not them?

Any advice/input is appreciated!!:D

Scotty

What advice if "the phone is being delivered to my base tommorow"?

The fact is that you will never get a good deal from a salesman cold-calling you.
Another fact is that there is no cooling off period for upgrades. In the best case scenario you'll be able to change the handset, but not the airtime contract.*

And the last fact is that S2 with 900+500+500Mb is easily available for £30.64 p.m. with potential £200+ cashback.
    Happy day for the salesman.

*ETA. The DSR don' apply to upgrades. However, you are lucky and the internal CPW policy is more favourable:
    Pay monthly phone upgrade?
We'll refund any money you paid for your phone, and cancel the new contract you’ve started. You won't be disconnected – you’ll go back on to the contract you were on before you upgraded.

Ok grumbler keep your knickers on. As you have probably noticed I am not too savvy with this sort of thing but thank you for your 'facts'. Bit pointless telling me now though (unless you enjoy rubbing this sort of thing in?) lol. Did not realise a cooling off period didn't apply to upgrades so will bare that in mind for the future. Cheers for the input:T

No, I don't enjoy this, but it's always beyond me why people ask for advice after, not before.

I hope you noticed the 'ETA' correction that has to sweeten the pill.

Next time tell the salesmen to **** off and check http://www.moneysupermarket.com/mobile-phones/brands/samsung/i9100-galaxy-s-ii/ instead (and quidco/topcashback as well).

I know mate, completley my bad, was in a big rush and didn't think it through...I am an active member on a very popular fitness/bodybuilding forum and know exactly what its like when a newbie joins and asks stupid questions so I was sort of expecting it TBH. :o
Yeah I noticed the correction, could maybe use it as a bartering tool if I contact O2 and try and get a better tarriff but I have heard its pretty much laid down by Apple what they can do!

Your deal was with CPW. You cannot haggle with O2. Just cancel the upgrade with CPW and shop around.
