Handicare problems?

I had a minivator stairlift fitted several years ago, just found out Handicare took over minivator,
My stairlift stopped and started randomly paid Handicare £85 to fix it now 6 weeks later its done the same only this time its stopped and not started.
I am stuck downstairs since saturday 19th November 2011 and they grudgingly agree to come out on Thurday 24th 2011.
I say grudgingly because they tried to fob me off with local installers like Bristol mobility who do not fix stairlifts, they said go to dolphin who informed me they only fix stairlifts they install so back i went to Handicare and said they should come and fix it after all i only paid out recently for a repair.
Now Handicare are going to charge again.
Is anyone experiencing any problems with Handicare? i ask as the woman sounded hostile to me.
what is a resonable time to be without a working stairlift?

was there any guarantee implied or given with the repair ?
what was the fault then, ie was it a part that caused the fault that they replaced ?
repairs must last a reasonable period of time, but it is dependant on what was done, what was required, what recommendations were stated if any and what if anything you signed.
for example If they recommended it needed replacing and tightened a screw, there is little comeback, if they replaced a part and that part is now faulty again, they should replace it free of charge. if another fault is now faulty then you may be liable for the cost of the repair, unless you can prove the first part did not need changing.0 -
I dont know what the fault previously was exactly as the guy said the sensors were stopping the stairlift,no parts were replaced, the paperwork is just an invoice that i paid it mentions nothing about a repair in fact i looked at it again and even the sensor thing he reckoned it was isnt written down.
No nothing has been mentioned or written about guarantees, but surely if something is fixed all be it for such a short time it surely should have some kind of guarantee? after all whats stopping them putting bubblegum to hold something together?
Minivator were a decent bunch but after a recent call to Handicare i find them hostile/abrupt.Thats why i ask if anyone else had similar problems.I have the invoice asking for £85 from the last fix but it states nothing in regards to work he may or may not done.0
