SE K610i Battery Life

DD has just got a SE K610i on a 3 contract and is complaining about the dire battery life. I know 3G phones use a lot of "juice", but she is only getting about 24 hours standby time. At first, I thought it was because she was browsing the My3 site a lot (new phone, and all!), but this is with everyday use.
There is a "globe" icon visible - and I'm not sure if this is to give instant access to just My3 or the internet in general. 3 website not specific on this.
Also, this is a reconditioned phone, so is it possible she has a duff battery?
Any recommendations as to how to improve the situation?

if 3 haven't customized the phone to hell, try turning 3g off (settings > connectivity > mobile networks > GSM/3Gnetworks > GSM only)

alternatively, if bluetooth is on turn it off and turn the brightness down to the lowest (main menu > settings > Display tab > Brightness) which is 50% on my k750i

Also when you get new phones you should chrge it for 8 hours first before any use. Hours may differ depending on model of phone but for my W810i I was told 8 hours.

Sony Ericsson's IMO are excellent when it comes to batteries, I got a K750i now and play music all day, still have half battery life by the night!

We have loved the previous SEs we have had! Usually get 5-6 days out of my 550i - which is why I think 1 day is rubbish :rolleyes:
