Switching from Orange to BT
Smashing

After being with Freeserve/Wanadoo for 6 years, I have had no major problems until they were taken over by Orange. I requested a mac code, but they use LLU ones apparently which BT don't accept, so I cancelled my account and the 30 days notice finishes Feb 26th.
What would be the best way to switch to BT with the least amount of downtime? Should I be contacting BT now - how long does it take for them to set it up? Will broadband be cancelled on my phone line by Orange thus ballsing up any new connection I make with BT in the meantime? Or do I have to wait until the 26th before I can make the switch?
