Is my car covered!!!
I have a 2008 Audi A4. The xenon bulb went this morning and audi want £230.95!!
The car is covered by Motorway direct warranty (gold) I am going to ring them in the morning to see if it is covered?? It does say in the boocklet they don't cover bulbs but there are some exclusions?
Has anyone had any experiance? could really do without spending that before xmas on a bulb
Plus we have only had the car 2 months and it came with only 30days cover

I hate to say this and I'm sure it won't help but thats the kind of expense you incur when buying a flashy car. I wouldn't think it'll be covered personally but don't let the fuzz catch you with a dead one or it'll be points and a fine at Xmas too! Bulbs go unfortunately so the best bet is to find a second hand one on ebay or at a breakers. Whack it on a credit card if possible and then have Xmas.0

These bulbs never blow it is more likely either the coil pack that feeds it or another electrical fault ie fuse or something These bulbs are expensive yes but they never blow be warned thou do not under any circumstances stick your hand inside the headlight when it is on it will more than likely kill you if you get a shock off it I do have some of these bulbs if you get stuck let me know0

Audi have said they have tested the coil pack ect and it is all fine it is the bulb? I would normally do it myself but by looking on the net looks abit of a job......and the problem that the bulbs need leveling as they tilt.0

normally the coil pack, same fault as audi TTs get.
Ironically enough the ordinary halogen main beam also says 'dealer service only' in the manual, although it's a relatively easy user change.Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.0 -

Yeah but no doubt after changing the bulb they'll then discover the coil has suddenly packed up too. Oldest trick in the book that, tell you its one thing and then have you pay for two or three others.0 -
£15 a pair if they are the D2S type, they also do the igniter for sensible money. Fitting is simple plug & play
I can see how Audi could check the igniter input but I'd be surprised if they had the equipment to check the output side other than by connecting a bulb

Once you change the bulb do they need to program the lights so the self levelling system still works?
Stupid idea that, Swapping a bulb or a flat battery means it needs the expensive computer at the wallet emptying

Don’t know but my guess is not. Certainly on mine (Audi S4) I changed the bulb and igniter and have had the battery off on various occasions and the self levelling still works and, as far as I can tell by eye, still works properly.
Mine has traditional mechanical adjusters and I assume you use those to set base un-laden alignment and then the motor & suspension sensors vary it depending on suspension extension/compression.0 -

No? - Tell that to my friend who was given a producer and 7 days to get hers fixed at a garage with a receipt to prove it OR 3 points and a £60 fine.0
