O2 Broadband (O2 Users Discount)

I am thinking of getting O2 broadband using the topcashback deal and the three months free for customers under 2 years (even though I have been with them for longer) but am thinking of changing mobile supplier in the next couple of months. If I do leave O2, will I no longer receive the £5/month discount even though I have signed up before I stopped my o2 mobile.

Yep, if you end an O2 contract you will lose the BB discount. If you're on PAYG you need to spend £10 a quarter to keep the discount. In my experience, you can nominate any PAYG number to get the discount, so, if you have a friend or relative on O2 you can nominate their number (as long as it's not already associated with a BB account). They just have to put up with the monthly text advising that payment for the BB account is soon to be taken.

Thanks for the response. So I would just use their 02 number from the start then? My parents have a pay as you go so can go with their number

Yes, you can either use theirs to sign up, or change it at the time you leave 02.
