PC World £50 Voucher Issue

Options
Hi All
I recently bought a laptop from PC World. I chose the laptop carefully (well not as carefully as i thought) and intentionally chose one that had a £50 voucher as i wanted to get some other bits and peices.
Asked if i could use the voucher at point of sale and they said NO you will have to wait until Feb 2012 to use it, ok i thought, i can wait.
Turns out that you can only use this voucher IF you spend £200 or more in Feb.
I think that this is a disgraceful sales technique and this offer is akin to what you get in the mail each day from Pizza delivery merchants.
I dont mind spending the money to get a voucher but when you have to spend more to get it, it crosses the line.
Nothing i can do about it really, other than to vent and warn others.
Anyone know what i can do? I compained and they basically said i cannot do anything, asked if i can return laptop and get my money back but they said yes if it was unopened (which it isnt).
Wording a letter to the MD of PC World at the moment, already complained to Watchdog about this one.
Interestingly enough, when i was looking at laptops there was only a few with this offer, now it seems the majority of them have it.
Anyone got any bright ideas? i think that this is scandelous

On the website it clearly says "terms and condition apply" it's easy to find them & easy to read, sorry m8 but it's your hard luck
  • I definately agree, just think its a rotten offer (if you can call it that)
  • Although i did buy this at the store and not online and i really do not think it was that clear, especially as it was only random laptops on offer

I was looking for a new laptop and saw the voucher deal, but read the T&C's first as I knew they wouldn't just throw a £50 voucher at people to spend on anything with a no minimum spend.

Most offers are not quite as good as the marketing makes out, once bitten twice shy

Or you could not have been given a voucher. What have you lost?

If people gave me £50 for nothing, even with conditions like that, I'd be rather grateful.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

  • Yeah i agree definately once bitten twice shy etc but its all well and good online when you can see/read the T&C but in store its a different matter altogether.

What bites me the most is that you get a voucher for £50 when you spend £500, in my book that is a good deal, but this voucher only becomes live when you spend an additional £200, great if you have two seperate spends planned but rotten if you dont.

You should earn a voucher, they are never free but i feel that i have earned this one by already spending £500. Grrr this is sooo wrong in my book.

And they wonder why these types of sheds are struggling.

IMO many poorly trained staff in products (A+ in xselling attempts), limited customer service, limited or non existent support in the basic purchase price. Uninterested in any subsequent failure/problems, not that competitive and then smoke and mirrors offers:think:
