Cheers for that recommendation - I've just had a play around and it looks much better than the other remote apps I've tried. I'll definitely be using it at some point...

I've just used it with both of them over the weekend, it's good that you need to talk to them at the time to get the passwords, and you only need to install the client on your machine. :)

I hate desktops with loads of icons, my OH's old PA used to keep all the invoices she made as icons, not quite suite where the desktop ended!!

Much easier to find when arranged in the right order

One simple process is that you get to the elderly bit far sooner than you expect yourself to get there .

  • Anyone seen the advert for the BBC's Give an Hour campaign? Some bloke in a valley sings about spending an hour helping his elderly mum get online.

Isn't it sad that we need a campaign by the BBC to tell us to help our mums?! I don't mind being on-call tech service for my mum, she always makes me a cup of tea. I can't imagine her ringing up and going "I need you to come help me, the computer's gone all... funny" and me telling her to bog off.

    I totally agree.
I seem to be the de-facto computer "expert" for most of the people I know.

And if I run into something I've never seen before, there's always the nice, helpful people on here to bail me out!!;)

As I discovered, you don't even need to install the client - the "installer" gives you the choice of just running without installing, and you can also control a PC in a browser by going to their website.

Does everything I'd want it to, is easy for the other person to set up and it's free! Nice find! :money:

Or like my MIL who tried to use the TV remote to make a phone call and wondered why the TV went "funny". :rotfl:

Bless 'em......that'll (hopefully not) be us in a few year's time :)

I'm not so concerned about losing my marbles per se, as long as I retain my techie knowledge...

...at least I'll be able to look up what's wrong with the rest of me ;) :rotfl:
