Vodafone / Iphone 4s Data Usage

I have just spoken to Vodafone customer service about my Mobile usage regarding why my iphone handset recorded a different usage when compared to the Vodafone App and website. I was surprised to hear that the iphone data usage counter does not record any video streaming within Utube or Iplayer etc. and this is why my phone counter reads 300MB and the Vodafone site reads 500MB, can someone please confirm this information is correct as I don't want to risk going over my 500MB allowance in the future.

No, they're fibbing. The iPhone's data counter measures all data used, regardless of which app or service used it. I've just tested this with a 6-minute YouTube video on my iPhone on Orange (with wifi turned off), and my data counter went up by 13.1MB received and 398KB sent.

Thanks for your reply, Do you know why Vodafone would lie to me about this and why is there such a difference in what my phone indicates and what Vodafone say, logged over the same period. Im not talking about 20 or 30MB here it's more like 200mb. I just hope that the Vodafone customer care chap, had his wired crossed and someone else will be able to help me. I will try again tomorrow. Thanks again

I can't answer about Vodafone, but I experienced a similar billing error with Orange. My guess is that whoever you spoke to was making it up as they went along, just because they wanted to end a potentially onerous call in order to boost their personal performance statistics or something. I find this happens very often with call centre workers.
