Help How can i sell my car?

Options
Not sure if anyone can help. I am desperately trying to sell my freelander - too expensive to run and my partner an i are splitting so need it gone!! Have tried autotrader for 2 months. am sceptic about ebay for selling cars. Has anyone else got any ideas. I know its not the best time to sell cars. Have tried lowering price so it just covers the money owed on it...

thanks

    Part Ex?

Autotrader would be my next suggestion, and on a car like that I agree eBay would not be a good option, everyone thinks they can get something for nothing on eBay and therefore you would get very low amounts for it

But anyways, I have PM'd you re this post

It sounds as if you are pricing it for what you want to get as opposed to what it's worth.
Apologies if I got that wrong but thats how it comes across.

    The oustanding finance is irrelevant.
It's only worth the market value.

I would assess market value by looking in places like auto-trader and on-line and seeing what people are asking for a similar model/age.
Obviously asking prices are not the same as selling prices.

If you really want it gone, go to a landrover dealer, and ask what they will give you for it. You wont get anywhere near what you want for it though.

is it a diesel or petrol what year is it ,have you thoght of just handing it back to the finance company, because the new freelander has now been launched values have taken another hit,(unless of course you want to buy one then you never seem to find a cheap one)

I presume it is one of the Mark I Freelanders I'm afraid they don't have a very good name and as others have suggestedyou will probably have to drop your price a bit yet.

Autotrader would be my route, but it might be worthwhile removing it for a week or two and then lowering your price.

How much is the finance monthly? How many months have you paid and how many are left? How much deposit did you pay?

If you've paid over 50% of the total credit price (deposit + monthly payments + balloon payment, if any) and the car is in reasonable condition, you may be able to hand the car back to the finance company if the car is on a conditional sale or hire purchase agreement.

There is someone asking something like £19k in my local paper for a 2-year-old Galaxy, with the purchaser to pay this by taking over a finance deal. Even if that's possible, it's grotesquely overpriced - more than a new one - and there's no chance at all of them getting what they're asking for.

  • I have to agree with what others have said.I have sold loads of cars in Autotrader, going back to when it was called Automart!!

I always priced them well and described them in a fair manner, most cars will sell if in good condition and are priced right.

I would not use ebay to sell ,you will get some stupid bids, better to try the local paper or a specialised magazine.

A friend of mine sold their car on ebay and got a very good price for it - he was well pleased. He was scrupulously honest in his description of it, and that is important - the buyer won't feel cheated when they set eyes on it. Ebay has a vast audience so you're car is more likely to get spotted by someone looking for just what you're offering. No guarantees of course!
