I didn't mean 'a few hundred thousand', I meant a 'few hundred' or a 'few thousand'. Surely its highly unlikely that a private seller would have even a few tens of a particular electronic item unless they have bought them to re-sell? You wouldn't use fulfilment if you only had one or two to sell!! If they have bought for resale then they are acting as a business and therefore are surely bound by the relevant regulations?

I know of a few market place sellers that use Amazon fulfilment - I'm considering it myself at the moment for a few lines. The OPs post gave me the impression that it is a 3rd party seller using Amazon fulfilment.

I didnt say hundreds of thousands. I did understand what you meant :) Like i said, the large majority of stock is Amazon's own. And even they don't stock a thousand units of one item (at least not in one centre - perhaps over all their centres combined they do)

They do have private sellers using the fulfilment centre for certain reasons i cant disclose.

I appreciate you can't disclose it but I cannot think of a reason how a private seller can use fulfilment without actually being a business! It just doesn't make sense!! Answers on a post card anyone?!

Amazon are extremely secretive with their practices and how their business operates. Staff are asked to sign a confidentiality agreement stating they wont disclose certain aspects - regardless what their position is. They're really the only people who can provide a accurate answer.

Although perhaps someone can hit the nail on the head by taking a guess :D

Thanks for all the replies. I think better to stay away and buy from somewhere else...
