Call centre work is going to be the death of me
You have my sympathy, it's not for everyone. I hated it.
If you're only there temporarily anyway, why not just take the day off. What can they do about it?Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -
Well, if it makes you sick, take a sickie and go and earn the grand for the medical test. Though Id not be over confident that the money will turn up the day you are leaving for Tenerife?0

Because I thought I'd do things properly, I recognised only the senior was off that day meaning that nobody on the phones was actually off so didn't think there would be an issue and I went and asked for it off, I then appealed and they're adamant I can't.
So now chances are if I do take it off they'll let me go with one weeks notice, I've re-written my cv and would probably find some temping work but it's the risk I don't..... It's really frustrating.Well, if it makes you sick, take a sickie and go and earn the grand for the medical test. It'll be give or take on time, which would be fine. I'm so annoyed though as I went to the screening the other week but they had to rearrange it last minute due to only just getting full funding. It's typical.Poverty 2012 - F**K My low wage!0 -
Good luck trying to find a job in Tenerife in January.
We'll see you back here in February.0 -
to the OP.. by changing jobs too often you never see any of the benefits that come from sticking with the same firm for a number of years.
I spent between the years of 18-21 temp'ing through a number of agencies. I got quite a reputation for being able to slot into pretty much any role in a busines for a few weeks to cover holidays or whatever and i was happy as i was continually employed (due to the agencies lining work up for me in advance).
After doing this for a few years, i found one particularly large firm that i was doing admin for. I spoke to them and asked whether they needed any perm staff.
They found me a role as they saw how hard i worked and since then i have had 4 internal promotions and am still here 7 years later.
It's worth mentioning that none of the internal promotions were ever advertised externally!
A lot of my friends who are unemployed often say things like "if i could get a good job like yours i would work" and as shown above the reality is that working hard at a rubbish job will often lead to greater things.
When i started here i had no trade just a huge amount of varied work place experience, I am now applying for senior level positions @around 30K+
Oh and there is a reason why the med-trials pay grands! you might end up with some sort of wierd elephant size head!0 -
Looking at it from another angle, how do you manage to get all these jobs in the first place? You seem to have a very good talent in getting jobs. A talent that many on this site would love to have judging by the number posts where people describe how they apply for dozens of jobs without getting any offers.0

I'll risk the elephant head mate, I'm desperate to get back away. As for the fella saying see you in February, clearly doesn't have the gumption to do it himself, it's like anything in life, there are opportunities available, just learn to find them.
Liggins, I know what you're saying. I have been drifting from job to job, trying to find a company I think will provide me with the opportunities but the companies I've worked for do not have that available apart from one where I did stay longer than normal and did well until the financial crisis.Poverty 2012 - F**K My low wage!0 -

Opening myself up for more stick here
I'm 25 and I've had 30 jobs  Naturally my CV doesn't state all of them, I only show 6 and have gaps, I've just re-written my CV to be a more skills based CV as oppose to job based as one benefit of having all these jobs is my experience is varied, I can take away best techniques from each different place however that is wehre my downfall is lying at the moment, the company I'm working for are on a new venture and I can spot all the mistakes they're making but am in no position to actually offer advice.
I'm thinking of looking into the role of business analyst in the future when I'm ready to settle down properly.

What's Lanzarote got to do with anything?
Spoilt? Spoilt would imply that I've life handed to me on a plate, far cry from that.
I meant Tenerife, obviously, slip of the keyboard.:D
