I think you need to realise that at 15k in a call centre, you're not being hired because they want your analytical or problem solving skills or fancy spreadsheets.

They want you to pick up the phone x times per day and service the customers in a way which is positive for the company and the customers.

I think perhaps as soon as you get your head around that and buckle down to the job it will become eaiser.

All very well if the calls are coming in. They're not. I've been in since 11:30 today and taken 2 calls that were no longer than 3 minutes.

I took a phone operator job in the hope to go back to being 16/17 and just getting hammered with calls all day so I could just crack on and time would go fast. Instead I've found myself in a new start up project where there is !!!! all to do 80% of the day and at very best stuff not needed doing is found for me to do, nothing worse than that.

Agreed - quite often having nothing to do is far worse than being run into the ground busy.

Just over 6 years ago I was in a similar position - call centre job to call centre job, never really climbing the salary grades, etc. I even considered some of the same options like moving abroad but looking back I realise they were just distractions and wouldn't have helped me get on track long term.

In the end I made a move into another industry completely based on nothing more than a willingness to work and a desire to get out of the call centre cycle and it paid off. I'd strongly advise you to look at serious options which will set you up for long term success rather than a pipe dream about movingt to a foreign land and finding happiness.

    Happiness > Money

I gave up a 27k job because I'd finished the work in a day and was left fighting sleep for the rest of the week, it was depressing.
