  • Diamond, I really wouldn't worry as they would have no jurisdiction in the UK to take this debt to court.

I second not ever going back to Dubai though - you could be jailed for not settling debts there :eek:

And make sure you don't go the Far East / S.Africa etc on a flight that stops over either!
  • Hi Diamond 76. One thing to be aware of If you do choose to ignore this debt, is employment choices in the future. I would never have believed I would evere travel beyond the typical European holiday spots but then did a degree as a mature student and ended up with a fab job with a global company. I have to travel with my job and frequently pass through Dubai. Imagine if this was not possible due to a situation like yours!

Please bear in mind that I am not some high flyer, it's just that much of our business is in India and we use Emirates to get there (we are not given a choice of who we fly with and they happen to be the cheapest from the North of England)

Depending on your own circumstances this may be relevant or not but I did think it was worth pointing out.

  • Thanks for that- yes I am aware of avoiding middle east and UAE and flight transfers there- thanks again :)
