If You STILL Haven't Bought a Property ..

... (Cheap Property, that is) by the time you read this, then, I'm afraid the chance has gone.
It's no word of a lie when I say that in the area I want to buy everything has now been sold ... there is nothing left to sell ... in the summer the best properties went under offer, then the next best went .... yesterday, a property I was hoping to grab a bargain on in the mid-winter went under offer!
It has been clear to me that every property was being snapped up from this Summer onwards ... the dregs are now getting bought as desperation sets in for buyers.
Now, this morning, just when the market is moving - we get the Government about to pump £££££millions into the housing stock!! Great, now we shall see another boom upwards of prices - it can go no other way.
Stimulate growth by firing up the Housing market - it has worked in the past, it will work in the future too.
One thing is ABSOLUTELY clear now - there will be NO CRASH at all ... not in the foreseeable future anyway.
That's a shame as I wanted to buy some more cheap property, now that's not likely to happen ... like so many on here, I waited too long and have been caught out with money in the Bank but nowt to spend it on!
At least I own property and am not renting/buying someone else's place for them - so, I can take some crumb of comfort in the fact that my current home is very saleable once more - and at a much higher price than in 2009!
So, in short ... I believe that if you haven't secured that purchase now - you will be frozen out of the market, it's only upwards from here on in.

Try telling that to Sibley. Maidstone House prices down by 7.5% this year, and now back to 2004 prices. He must be gutted having bought in 2007 :rotfl:0 -
Fellow posters.
Please just ignore him

Just when you think that the level of debate can't get any worse.
This is truly the board that moderation forgot.0 -
We should separate Debate: house prices and Debate: the economy so that all the cretins can have their own 'special' board to measure their c0cks on.Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0

Hang on. By his own addmission MrRee has no interest in property prices going up or down. He is the eunuch/ladyboy of the housing market.
Oh well, it looks like he has found his co*k again.0 -
So the govt wants to steer all ftbs to new build proerties.
This isnt a measure to get the housing market moving, nor is it a measure to help ftbs. Its a measure to help housebuilders, but with the govt taking some of the mortgage-lenders risk.
FTB numbers are already low. If you are trying to sell your home to move and find out the governement is diverting the few ftbs to schemes to help the building industry, what does that mean in terms of how long you can expect to wait to sell, the price you might eventually sell for etc, the likelihood you will find yourself in a small and straightforward chain?
This doesnt help get the housing market moving. It siphons off the most valuable people in the market (new entrants) and ensures the rest of the market continues to stagnate as chains become longer and more complex and less likely to complete.
Yet another lack of joined up thinking..... With such mastery and analytical insight, Grant Shapps wouldnt have been out of place in Crash Gordon's cabinet.0 -
Indeed, I own property AND want to buy more property.
I want cheap prices now so I can expand my portfolio, but want a boom in prices in future so I can cash in on what I buy now.
That hope has been blown away by recent developments in the South - sales are well up, selling prices are well up (asking prices remain stubornly static still), shops are full of buyers - confidence is in abundance here.
Of course, the North still has to feel this warm front - and it will within 12 months - my strong advice to all those in the North is, "Buy now, don't miss out like I have done!". This is serious advice - laugh it off if you want, but don't come to me crying next year when things start selling and you are left out!Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
Will the Government limit this extra cash injection to just new builds?
I suspect that they will have to expand it out to secondhand homes, where better value can be found ..... by backing up the shortfall on the deposit required by the Banks.
Great news for FTB's - not so good for those vainly hoping for a price reduction.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -
