Yes verb, came in this morning.

I looked at it at the cash point, took a photo on my phone LOL
then I then took the card out and put it away for safe keeping.

    I'll be doing the following.
    1) pay off the parents
    2) pay off loyds & close
bank the rest in whatever I can find to give me the best return, probably a blend of ICE and Isas

Still will have debts, & they will be dealt with by the usual methods of ebay, moneysaving, quidco cashback and the like. I also have I remembered a tax back thing likely to happen, some money from my tribunal, and lots of other bits & pieces, so I can use these to get Debt free, although I added myself to the roll of honour, as technically, Im certainly debt free as of today, and then some.

Off to finish off my diary. that will be the final installment of that I think ;)
thanks to all, it feels like an anticlimax - but there you are- you cant have it all!

    Lots of love
    Lynz

I hope in years to come, you look at that picture and say "Was that all I started with?" ;)

Martin came out with a new "top savings" thing - if you're willing to tie your money up. You could try some of it in there.

Well done - pleased for you.

You've had some great advice about the money Lynz, I'm sure you'll come up with a solution that suits you.

I just wanted to say Well Done!!! on being debt free, no matter how it has come about! I can understand what you mean about it feeling like an anticlimax, but really this is just the beginning. With everything you've learnt I'm sure you'll make excellent use of the money!!

Now don't leave us completely will you?! :(

Well done Lyn, I understand what you mean, it does feel like an anticlimax, I had that feeling too. I actually even missed the debt in a strange way, I guess I just like having something to work towards. But that feeling went after a few days and now I am loving it and you will too. For me the biggest thrill came from being interest free, I no longer pay any of that and I love it.

Tonight you need to get a bottle of something and celebrate. It has been a long journey, selling the house probably more so than the debt. I won't forget our walk down than miserable road together in a hurry (it will probably put me off buying property again for life, dunno about you).

I still get postcards from my DCAs, telling me they are popping round (quite what for I don't know, for tea and biscuits and a moan about the evil debtors no doubt).

So now it's time to just chill a bit, start your new job, enjoy your new home and get your health 100% again.

Congratulations again, you deserve it so enjoy it xx

  • Just pay the whole lot off and be shot of it all. That is the goal of DFW which you have successfully achieved!

Instead of paying off things, rather concentrate on squirrelling away something on a monthly basis.
