Hi

Iphone Repair

I have been waiting for six weeks for my Iphone to be repaired by repairworld in rotherham They keep telling me that they are waiting for parts, (a battery and wifi aerial) After waiting for three weeks I asked them to return my phone and refund me but they refused saying they would not be able to refund me the £70 I have paid.

I would appreciate any advise as to how to proceed with this, or do I just have to wait who knows how long for my phone to be repaired.

I'd ask local Trading Standards for an advice.
  • I have had exactly the same problem with this company regarding an iBook that was sent to them for repair (via courier) on 10 October. I was quoted a turn-round time for the repairs of seven working days and, on that basis, paid £149.38 by credit card. Since then I have had to chase Repairworld repeatedly and have been given various excuses, which included a) the replacement parts being faulty and having to be sent back and b) the latest - the floods in Taiwan . . .

At no time has anyone from Repairworld, which is based in Rotherham, contacted me directly to apologise for the delay or to discuss a revised schedule for the repairs.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council contracts out its trading standards advice (for consumers) to Consumer Direct, whom I rang today. They informed me that Repairworld is in breach of contract and have given me the outline of a letter to send to the company. Would recommend that you also contact Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 who can talk you through what you need to do.

    Good luck!

The phone is your property, they cannot refuse to send it back to you.
    There's two issues here:
    1. 6 weeks is more than reasonable to repair a phone (I had my iPhone 4 repaired recently and had it returned within a week). Therefore I would tell them to return the phone, no if's, but's or maybe's.
    2. At the same time, I'd also inform them (in writing), that you're going to issues small claims proceedings to recover the cost of the repair.
This may prompt them into pulling their finger out.
  • Thanks for the advise. Have contacted Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06 who advised me what to write to repair world. Letter goes off Tuesday by recorded mail.

I now see that there are many others that are having problems with these people recently, its a shame I did not see all the bad reviews before I sent my phone!

Try editing (Advanced editing) the title of the thread and adding Repairwold to it. If you do this this thread will appear in the top results of googling for 'repairworld'.

    Just updating this.

I sent a recorded letter to Repair World asking for my phone back either repaired or returned with a refund as suggested by trading standards.

A week later I received an email saying the phone has now been repaired ( not even an apology for taking seven weeks)

Today I received my Phone and yes you guessed it it's not working!!!!!!

In this situation, you are limited in what you can do as the reasonable approach is to give it back and let them try again. Since this would not be prudent, you should advise that the phone has been returned un repaired, and you require a full refund of the money paid. Give the 28 days to comply, then raise a Small Claims action if te refund does not materialise.

Agreed, they've had their chance, kept the phone far too long and still didn't fix it.
