Nokia 6700 Classic - Only 3 has the unlock code?

I've finished a contract recently with 3 and they have offered me the unlock code for the Nokia 6700 Classic for £15. I declined and surfed the net for the codes. On all the Nokia phones, I've found the 6700 to be missing and even when I took it into a shop to be unlocked they told me they were unable to do it as it was locked to 3 and they were the only ones who would be able to give me the unlock code.
Is this the case? or does someone know the unlock code.
Any help, as always most appreciated.
