Unlocking a Business iPhone locked to Vodafone

I know there are Vodafone representatives around on this messageboard so I was hoping to hear from them but if anyone else can help then please chime in.

I've been given an iPhone 4 from my business that is locked to Vodafone. I want to unlock it and use a dual sim tool that I've found online in order to use my personal mobile sim in the iPhone, however this is on Tesco Mobile and therefore I believe I need to unlock the phone.

I've spoken to my IT team but they were unhelpful and told me told me to just manage two phones but I find it frustrating carrying around both.

Am I able to unlock the phone? Can I contact Vodafone directly and get them to do it? I don't mind paying a fee for doing the service.

My last option was to use the website funphoneshop.co.uk (I've read some reviews on the site and it seems legit) but it'll cost £50 for the service. If anyone knows any cheaper places I can get it done please let me know (I'm on the latest 04.11.08 modem firmware so I don't think I can do it for free).

How can I get a network unlock code for my phone? - Help - Vodafone
    Monthly

All of our new pay monthly phones are unlocked, except for those by Apple (iPhone). This means you don’t need a Network Unlock Code (NUC). If you have an older phone or iPhone, you’ll need to contact us to get a NUC – there’s no charge for this.
Web reps replied many times here that the owner of iPhone can ask them to have the phone unlocked.

    Hi tornadolphin,

Grumbler is absolutely correct, the original owner can unlock the handset by filling in the form here.

I am the official company representative of Vodafone. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"
  • Vodafone's official company representative is talking nonsense. I had a two year contract with them which expired on 4 December 2011. I have been trying for several month to get an unlock code from them and they have prevaricated and delayed. The phone is now dead and useless, without the unlock code.
