Well guys, finally my keyboard for the laptop has arrived... hopefully no more USB keyboard to contend with.
Wish me luck installing it... eldest said, but do you think you could replace it?!
Fingers crossed I can show him that his mum has got some wits about her! lol
I have replaced a couple of laptop keyboards before and its quite easy. Look above the keyboard, there is usually a cover that goes under the screen and sometimes is screwed in behind the screen's hinges. Remove this cover, gentle pressure sometimes needed to un-lug the plastic lugs. This should reveal about 3-6 screws that hold down the keyboard. Undo these and the keyboard should lift from the top - BEWARE the ribbon cable connects under the keyboard so be careful. The cable is removed from It's plug by pulling back on a retaining bar* in the socket - use your fingernails on both sides at the same time pulling it back. This bar only needs to come back a few millimeters and usually does not come off. Pull ribbon cable out of socket and remove old keyboard. Fit new one in reverse order.
* sometimes these ribbon cables do not have a retainer bar, but instead have a reinforced plastic strip for pulling or pushing on.I miss too many pages due to work so if you need an answer from me, please send me a PM.

I was watching extreme couponing last night and DS walked in, he was gobsmacked and started to work out the figures, he wanted to know why I didnt do more coupons as the woman on the programme was doing 300 odd and the till would only accept 250!!! Ashamed to admit when he saw the women rummaging through the paper skip to find coupons he said to me don't you dare do that because I know you would:oI would too:rotfl:A bit later he came to bed and came in my room and said "Mum, you do 3 jobs, you work for dad, you work for yourself and you have your hobby and I'm well proud of you, when I go to uni would you email me coupons?" He's definately learning!
I love my cyber family;)
Bl00dy He11 nikki, I thought Wonderwoman was just on the screen! Where do you find the time? Bit like hindsight, bottle it and you'd become a millionaire. Unless you already are.....................0 -
Hi Everyone
This is my first post.
Have been trying desperately to follow what's going on. I roughly get it, although don't know how the DTD works as it doesn't seem to be advertisied anywhere as to if there are rules etc, I could only find the refund the difference thing (which I have done from my receipt today).
Anyway I had my first trip to T's looking for bargains. The Mingles weren't priced at all, so I asked for them to be scanned and they were £1.01 so got some of those. Was worried about buying the 1p deals in case I got to the till and had to pay full price. The scanner in my store isn't working at the moment, so will feel more confident when it does. If there is a glitch in one store, is it always the same everywhere?
I also got my Sun newspaper cheese deal too. Feel quite pleased with myself and it's only the beginning, although I have always watched out for deals in the past.
I have a £2 Zavvi code that I won't use if anyone is interested, but you'll also have to let me know how to PM you!!! I got it from Matchmakers and it's valid until June 2012.
Thank you all for all of the info you put on here. If I spot anything, I'll be sure to let you know.

we are 20 days old tonight, we are also nearing the end of this thread and need to think about a new title.
my feeling is we need to preserve the ''11 plus'' as this is where most of us have come together. for me i would like to see it in the title as XI+
I think the general feeling is for nikkilala to open the thread, she has my vote.:p
also thanks to locarr for this thread.0 -

Snug as a bug in a rug here nana, how about you?
When I was younger, yes. These days I'm good at it, unless I loose interest...
I am very well thank youToni`s Mummy0 -

Reminds me of a job that I priced in some social housing flats (internal only) and had to wear a hard hat, hi vis etc, incase something fell on me and so that I was visable to all! Hmm biggest room was about 12 x 12! Tenants were cracking up - asking why was it safe for them to live there if we had to have all the H&S stuff on! Biggest rule in H&S is pure common sense. So much work can't be done as it can cost more for 'safe' access then getting the job done in the first place! Not intending to rock any boats, just my thought on the subject. Milk crate put away now!;)
I am really not here, just a figment of everyones imagination, but was just having a quick lurk when I read this and couldnt help but comment;)I've got the right hump:( I want a ciggie(Don't worry I definately won't have one! got three Blo*dy lollies on my desk) and I've just got off the phone to the H&S inspctor as he is waiting on my COSHH assessment forms about the dangers and hazards of using Glass cleaner!!!!!!!I !!!!!!!g hate doing H&S and have been doing it for the last 2 weeks for my OH.
