Think have already irked other readers of this thread so appologise to you guys n girls.

However Little lost is spot on this will have massive effects on everyone so maybe guys n girls take a step back from being the thread police and take notice of what LL is saying, IT WILL HIT YOUR POCKETS TOO.

LL have always though action better than inaction, the bold i've highlighted, thats my job, the cuts in expenditure have reduced me from on going contract to as and when, this affects me wife and kids and all my work mates are in same boat, so we are on your side.

Despite that the gov will still go ahead anyway.

I think when many visualise the public sector and the large pensions as portrayed by the media it puts a massive percentage of public sector workers in a bad light and makes them look gready whilst the rest of the country are struggling.

Being in the public sector is no longer a secure employement with a cushy pension and most that work in the public sector are aware that in this economic climate we all need to cut back, but there is only so far you can cut back before the cracks start to show..... There are workers who are currently being stretched to the limits, being put on re-curring employement agency contracts, having all promotion oppurtunities removed unless they agree to new T&C meaning for many a huge paycut (earning less than the average UK wage), Places of work have become dangerous due to staff shortages the list could go on....

The public sector isnt just teachers, fire fighters, medical staff and police it is huge and nearly everyone in the UK accesses these services at some point....What would happen if they were no longer there or the skilled and experienced employees were to leave for private sector employement??

I dont want to start a huge debate, I for one will not be going on strike as It is against the law for us to strike but totally understand reasons why and support those who do....

You are spot on, public service is difficult enough without getting pay and pensions cuts. Am 10 years served.

Maybe should ask MSE for a political thread before you and I !!!! off everyone. :D

I totally agree its not as cushy as everyone thinks, I have been in my role now for just over 7 years and am the top of my pay scale. When I joined the role I am in it was a career with prospects for promotion etc... However with goverment cut backs and continously fighting of privatisation it is no longer that and is now something that pays the bills. The work is harder and more dangerous due to there being less staff.

There are plenty of threads on MSE discussing this sort of thing. I would have some quite strong views but probably best to leave it there;)
