Best PAYG network for porting number?
I am currently with T-Mobile and coming to the end of my contract. In order to get the best deal for the phone and contract I want, I need to sign-up with T-Mobile again as a new customer. I want to keep my existing number but unfortunately T-Mobile (and probably all other networks) do not allow migrating a number between two contracts on the same network. A friend of mine suggested getting a free PAYG SIM card on another network and port my number to that temporarily and then port out of it to the T-Mobile contract.
Does anyone know which network is very good for porting numbers to and from it when using PAYG?
Ideally a network that has a quick turn around and doesn't provide hassle.
TIA

Port to O2 (as they make less fuss) then port to the new contract with T-Mobile. Tell O2 that you have changed your mind. They can not refuse to release your number back.If you keep on doing what's you've always done, you'll keep on being what you've always been...:think:0

Really, T-Mobile have said this is not possible. Just to be clear, this is going from a T-Mobile pay monthly contract to another T-Mobile pay monthly contract? TIA0 -

How different is the new customer deal compared to upgrade? I'm surprised they do not just match it.
But is a reason I favour to just buy a handset outright and continue with a sim only deal, and also when buying sim free, it then cuases the purchaser to assess the real VFM for the handset.0 -

I have been trying to do the same just this week OP.
I originally got an O2 PAYG sim and requested to transfer my number to O2. But then I realised in order to activate the new number, you need to top up and I think the minimum top up is £10.
So I cancelled the O2 porting and got an orange sim instead. I know orange have 10p top ups. At the moment I'm waiting as tomorrow orange said they will port my t mobile number to the orange PAYG sim.
I'll let you know what happens tomorow though/ if orange let me quickly request my PAC code again.0
