Do landline callers pay for unanswered calls to mobiles?

Hi.

Just as the title says, if I call a mobile 'phone from my BT landline 'phone and it isn't answered, do I pay for that?

I'm having trouble getting money out of a builder for work not done and I'm having to repeatedly call his mobile. He must recognise me as the caller and he doesn't answer, nor do the calls go to an answering service. So I'm wondering if there's a cost to me making all of these repeat calls.

Thanks.

No, it doesn't cost you unless it goes to a voicemail.

Dial 141 in front of his number and then he won't know who's phoning him.

141 doesn't work on my basic phone with o2 sim. Don't know if this is because of the phone or the network.

When you say 141 doesn't work, are you talking about received calls on your O2 SIM or outgoing calls from your O2 SIM?

When I call from this O2 phone to Orange or Tesco 141 doesn't work.
It works when calling from Orange (android) to Tesco and to O2.

Ring on someone else's phone or go to the phone box, he'll answer then I'm sure

Try putting #31# in front of the number instead of 141.

What dduk said. Beat me to it ;)
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Thanks. It's not that I ever need to withhold my number. I just tried and posted the results in case the OP has O2 phone.
