pendulum, i have not been taking more attention just because its had a service, im quite anal about the mpg and most people would probabaly not even have the current trip mpg up to view whereas i have that up atleast 50% of the time. obviously i cannot say yes they have done something it could be a coincidence, end of the day it isnt right and was before it went in so most people will come to a conclusion wether right or wrong.

well thats right, i kind of just meant the trip part which shows your current trip. i was averaging 60 overall but at this rate will be lucky to get anywhere near 50. other owners reviews show they average near 60 so i know i am not expecting too much

Maybe they do more than 3 mile trips. You'd be better off with a petrol.

yeah might have to have a look at what they have done! thought it was not anything major. as for the mpg before, its basically all downhill to work hense i would hope i was getting 70mpg! especially with over a mile of coasting! i think they may have messed something when plugged in, its odd because while the trip computer is reading very different im not sure the fuel pointer is moving as same new rate.

You need to invest some of your saving in driving lessons. Over a mile not in proper control of your vehicle.

Never go by the on-board computer, their usually miles out.

I think you may be right, either that or my son's Golf tdi really does do 200mpg at times :)

If you think this and think that and the techs are so incompetent, then why not service the vehicle yourself?.......

Presumably the OP doesn't service the car themselves because of warranty, ability or choice reasons but that doesn't alter the fact that from the factory the display said 70 and after the service it now says 50 and it doesn't seem unreasonable to ask why.
