Hello i thought i just jump in here and say wow I'M NOT THE ONLY plonker here lol anyways here goes ! I have just come off the phone from my bank telling me that a company "rewardsnow' has been taking monies from my card so they went ahead and blocked it( thankyou to them ),ok the reason why they phoned as other customers have been going through the same thing this is been doing this since 2009, To the the person above who said about (direct debit) mine wasnt ......it was taken straight from my card ,but it was explained to me by my bank that companys like rewardsnow piggy back onto sites , ads or even well known sites....anyways when they were challenged the response .....they came back with sites that i had not heard of and yes they have TC 's and bla bla but these are not to be seen unless you go onto the site ....and no! refunds are a battle ....... they took two lots from my card and i have not used the service let alone becoming a member thinking i was going mad i checked my emails no id no password no correspondance no letters no phonecalls not a dicky birdi .....so by my rights i requested for a refund for a service that i did not use and very poor customer service who replied "that i should appreciate the refund but i'm not getting the second refund " even they denied the second payment ever existed but i got financial A.R.N and auth number, date and time but the repsonse i got" that you can send all the proof you have you will not get the money back ,your letters will be binned and phonecalls will be hung up !!!!!!. ( nice lady she was ) IM SORRY FOR RAMBLING AND BORING YOU but it is not fair that these companies can do this , but the only thing that keeps these companies up and running is the T C'S i even went to as far as checking all my computers history and what not!!! there are no names of these companys they mentioned . i will shut up now and apologise as im on a verge of a meltdown!!!!!!! so lol any advice ???0

Just an update!!! After sending a couple of letters and a couple of emails complaining, basically saying that even though some how I signed up to their service without my knowledge I want to know the company that signed me up! Emails were flying to and from because they wouldn't tell me and finally they said it was Callcredit! After signing up and seeing for free your credit report and then cancel apparently it's in the terms and conditions that they will pass your info onto these people. I know it's there in black and white because you sign up (in the small print) but what regulation is there to stop these people from putting something in the small print that says they're going to take £1000 from you and there is nothing you can do?0

I used to see this all the time in the branches of santander where I worked. No-one believed me when I said there was nothing the bank could do and that even cancelling the card might not help. Numerous times I had to suggest a brand new account as the only guaranteed way to stop them
Definitely not right, but - unfortunately - well within the law.
@thomasdown: There still has to be an application of fairness in the contract. Whilst you can argue a £1000 payment in the small print is unfair, clearly (because it's still legal), subscriptions for 'fairer' amounts still exist. Until that's changed, you just have to be super careful0 -

There is something you can do. First off read ALL the conditions, including the small print. Second walk away, don't use companies that act like this.
What they and the banks are doing are perfectly legal, the moral aspect is another story.
It may be harsh but the bottom line is that it's your own fault. That's not a personal criticism, we've all made mistakes.
People like shopping online as it's quick and convenient, however, when you buy an item or a service and are then faced with several pages of terms and conditions few people read them. They scroll to the bottom and click agree and when something like this happens they want someone to blame and someone to sort it out.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

I know its my fault I am not faulting that, what I am saying is they should be making things like this more visible instead of putting it in the small print. Like when you click confirm, and it asks you to tick the box if you have read all the small print etc why not break it down into easy readible text that the majority of people will understand. Like having 2 tabs that you click into before clicking confirm. Something like The Benefits tab and list all the benefits that you are signing up to, and then the Negative tab, in this tab there could be the services you get signed up to etc etc. I know that putting it into the small print is acting within the law but I feel it should be made easier to see what you really are signing up for not just in some stupid small print that is worded in a way that not many people can understand.0 -
You know what, i am actually disgusted at the piggish reponses from some people on here.......
I have just realised that for the past 3 months i have been having the charge taken off, i do realise i should have known earlier, but as im a busy nursing student, it wasnt the first thing on my mind.
Anyway, back in September i remember trying to get a credit report and my card kept bouncing and not recognising my details so i just gave up..........i now realise this is where they have got my details from, and don't use the well read the small print thing on me because i signed up for sweet FA!
There are plenty of people being told they have signed up by clicking on an Asda voucher....its ridiculous.
So, before you all give stupid, petty responses on here to people who are asking for a bit of help, do a bit of background reading.
I trawled through my emails and found one from the 18th of Sep that i hadnt read. so cancelled my supposed membership tonight and recieved an email confirming this about 4 mins ago (btw, their offices are open from 9 till 5)
It is clearly a scam, and im ashamed of the credit agencies letting this happen.
and yes, i will try and get my money back!Total debts = [STRIKE]£3116[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]2216[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£2066[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1916[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1766[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1616[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1466[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1316[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1166[/STRIKE][STRIKE]£1016[/STRIKE]£866

Say the company do not have customer Services. Difficult to get in touch with them take ages to get connected. When you are connected they will forward you another department and then you will be waiting for ages before you realise that noone is there.
You write and they will ignore yout fact and will give typical cut and paste response, etc etc.
There must be something that can be done ....0 -
isn't this the company that advertises "click here to get your £10 reward!!!!!!!!!!!!!" or something similar once you've bought something online from certain retailers?0
