If you don't mind second hand, have a look on ebay.

Check what the other girls will be wearing. When my son did his, only a few of the girls had veils, and some wore cheap ballet pump style shoes or pretty sandles which they could wear again afterwards.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Hi I got my daughters from monsoon in the sale, check out wedding shops, bhs, debenhams as for shoes ballet pumps or small heals i got my daughters form asda.
As for the veil, check at church at our church the little stall in the way in had loads of things veils, cards angels and some great little trinkets.
I also got some chocolates from an ebay shop with her name and the date on came in a box and had a lovely little book which everyone signed on the day, everyone thought it was very unusual.
    Have a great day.

I would try ebay US. Its fantastic for communion dresses/accessories and even with shipping still comes out cheaper than most shops here.

Try Ireland - bit extreme I know, but plenty of free day trip tickets available from either Holyhead or Pembroke (if you're the right side of the country) or if you know anyone that's going on holiday. I think they have a "set" holy communion day in Ireland and the shops are full of dresses before that day, after that day they sell them off really (and I mean really) cheaply. When my daughter was "done" it was after the Irish day and my mother-in-law got her the most wonderful dress for next to nothing.

I second one of the previous replies about veils - I haven't seen a girl wear a veil in our church for years and our priest is still quite strict about most things. As regards shoes, my little girl had a pair of white sandals that she wore for the whole summer after.

Just a quick question does it have to be a white dress or would i get away with ivory,my daughter will be a bridesmaid two weeks before her communion and i was kinda hoping she could wear the same dress for both occasions.
  • Just a quick one when my son made his in 2005 none of the girls were allowed to wear veils so check 1st with the priest an they couldn't wear floor length dresses either

    That's weird!
It's years since I've been to a First Communion, but I think ivory dresses are fine.
  • Debenams had got suitable dresses in Bullring Birmingham yesterday. They would be worth a look in the bigger stores. Don`t know how much though.
