However Still cant get it going just using the HD cable???

because you'll have to go through the faff I described earlier probably...while connected via scart, access the ps3 menus, set the output to hdmi (1080 resolution if the spec of your tv above is correct), lose the picture while you disconnect the scart, connect via hdmi, then find the setting on your tv to turn the input to hdmi....should sort it :)

tried this still no use. Its my sons ps3 and works perfectly well on his HD tv, when he bought the tv he just plugged the console in and no probs at all and works perfect in HD.

Lifted this from a review of this model:-

"It was moody with our PS3

We wanted to use a PS3 to carry out our HD tests. Unfortunately, the PS3/LC-32D44E combo obstinately refused to display an image coming from a protected source. A problem related to HDCP, the protection standard, seemed to be the cause. Only the sound on Blu-ray discs made it to the TV and not the image. On the other hand, PS3 menus were properly displayed. We therefore had to fall back on an HD multimedia hard drive that we usually use for other tests. Note that this same PS3 hadn’t given us any problems up until then, whether it was with TVs or video projectors, and that it continued to function perfectly in other tests in progress. Otherwise, this TV was no longer with us when we had another Blu-ray player available for further inquiry into the problem. " fom

The aquos is 1366 x 768. You need to try my recommendation posted earlier, methinks. Plug it into your sons via HDMI, downscale PS£ output to 720p. Then connect it to your aquos via HDMI selecting the appropriate source/AV button on your remote.

Yes holding the power "button" on the PS3 will power it down and up in a controlled manor as suggested. If you wer just to unplug it at the mains, mid play, you would lose game data/points/level history.
