Internet abroad issue?
Afternoon all, 1st time user with a quick query.
Me and my girlfriend went to New York end of September for a week and took our mobiles for emergencies and SMS updates to the family as you do. Came back and my girlfriend has a phone bill from Orange of £168 when she normally only pays about £40 on her contract. I checked her bil to find out what this was and looked at her itemised bill and they're charging stupid amounts for internet usage over there when she only used it once, maybe twice for a few minutes just to find a restaurant.
Has anyone seen this sort of issue? Just looking for some advice as to whether there is anything we can do? Just seems a bit extreme to charge this sort of money for the service?
Thanks in advance, Dan

There is nothing you can do but pay the bill. Looking for a restaurant is not the emergency you envisaged, they charge £8/mb I understand and if not, the charges are well documented.0

Orange advertises a price of £8 per megabyte for data roaming in the USA. £128 more than the normal bill therefore suggests that your girlfriend used 16 megabytes. With such a high charge per megabyte, presumably she was keeping track of how many megabytes she used.
Are you disputing that she used 16MB or are you saying she's been charged more than the advertised £8 per megabyte?0 -
Was their any app on the phone pulling down data in the background .

You should have turned of data roaming to avoid any surprises. Especially as much free Wifi is there is in the US, especially somewhere like NewYork.0
