accomodation in Amsterdam

Thanks guys, this is hard. I dont think it helps I have booked over Queens day when everything (i'm told) goes orange.

I found this, and there are lots of parties and things:


Queens Day is celebrated on April 30th, or on April 29th if the 30th happens to be a Sunday. The current Queen Beatrix, who's birthday is actually on Januari 31st, decided to keep celebrating Queens Day on her mothers birthday - former Queen and now Princess Juliana.

On Queens Day the whole country turns orange. The Queen, her husband Prince Claus, and their children visit festivities in one or two locations around the country. The visits can be watched on TV.

It might come to that. I gave up last night and accepted the B&B at 119€ but they just came back to say, and I quote:

We are sorry to tel you that the South room is not available any more. Because this is a very bizzy weekend (because of Queensday, April 30) we only have 1 alternative for you.....

For april 28 we have our Studio next to the B&B available (for 1 night) , and for April 29 and 30 we can offer you our annexe. ( see mail below) The prices are the same: 119,00 Euro per night!

The room had gone within 12 hours, this B&B looks a lot nicer than the 1&2 star hotels that were comming in at about the same price or slightly less but the location (7 minutes from central station) is excellent or so they say:

Our small B&B and the studio/apartment are located in 2 residential houses next to each other in the historic centre of Amsterdam, less than 5 minute walk from the Central Station. You will find everything "just around the corner", within walking distance.... location wise, we have one of the the best areas in Amsterdam !!

And they have now given me the annex at the same price, which is a lot bigger with a living room.

PS will let everyone know if this is a good B&B as prices are from 80€ (i'm oing at queens birthday weekend, a big day there)
