Virgin Media Charges Question

Hi I think my Mother-in-Law may be paying too much for her VM service. She's going deaf and doesn't have the patience to sit on the phone for a long time so I'm going to help her. (I don't have VM myself.)

She's been with VM since NTL days and lives in a big town.
- Broadband is via a very old cable modem. Think this is a 2MB connection. But will check. She hardly uses the internet.
- TV. Has whatever the equivalent of Freeview is. (No premium movie/sports channels).
- Phone. Has basic phone package. Again very low user.

She pays over £40 +calls. Is this about the going rate?
Thanks.

Not necessary check on the VM website, basic package on cable comes out at £36 plus calls.

Ditch the TV if freeview will be sufficient. Basic broadband is 10Mb these days - it's slowly crept up from 1Mb. May need a new modem, but they should supply that FOC. Phone them up (from MIL's phone on 150 as it's free) and see what's the best package for just broadband and phone they can offer.
If that doesn't get you a better deal, look around for something where the new phone line(which she'll need) will be installed for free. Get the details and then tell VM you're leaving and want to keep the existing phone number. With any luck they'll get back to you with a better deal. She'll have to be prepared to lose her ntlworld email address if you go that way though.

call up they will give her all 3 for £20, have to threaten to leave
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
