BT Autumn deal

Hi
At present we pay £17 for BT broadband and have free evening and weekend calls with our BT phone.
I have worked out our average monthly cost for both is £36.
With the Autumn Deal it will cost £13 plus line rental and if we bought a year up front that would cost £23 per month so a decent £13 per month saving - plus first 4 months free.
Couple of queries if anyone can answer.

- Do we have to pay for the new hub?
- Is it just wireless like we have now do we just plug it in where the old one was or do we have to have some sort of cable installed.

So you are spending about £19 on BT calls that are not inclusive? Why? Have you not read the advice by Heinz here.

BT Autumn Deals are only available to new BT Broadband customers unless stated otherwise. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
OP, check your exchange for LLU operators. They will be much cheaper than BT.
Samknows exchange check is what you want. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
And also an Anytime calls tariff. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Just phoned up to cancel (existing customer) and BT were only willing to discount my BB Option 3 from 23.60 to 17.25 (line rental stayed the same at £13.xx). I said no thanks please give me my MAC code, then she put me on hold and came back and said I could have the whole package for £26.90/month which is a tenner less than I was paying. It's not amazing but it's a lot less than I was paying. Now I may pay for all the line rental up front to save another 40-50 quid.0

Thanks for the answers but no one has actually answered my questions. It gives the impression in the email I received that it was for current customers as well as new.OP, check your exchange for LLU operators. They will be much cheaper than BT.

I am reluctant to leave BT as were with NTL for a while who were hopeless.0 -
Your choice, do you mean NTL (now Virgin) cable? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

If you qualify for the offer then the Hub is supplied-not that you'd want to pay good money for it anyway. But as advised, it is for new sign ups only.
All Home Hubs work wirelessly or by ethernet.
There are many other (and better) suppliers than BT or VM.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If you are out of contract with BT on your current deal, then calling them and saying you want a MAC as you are thinking of leaving for another provider should get you a retention deal at least as good if not better than the current 'Autumn Deal'...if you are still inside the minimum term of your contract they probably wont offer anything but will charge you a penalty if you move to another ISP, asking for a new router seems to be quite usual when negotiating a new deal and probably dosent cost the ISP much so are they are quite likely to agree to supply one0
