Which PAYG handset would you recommend for a 16 yo.

A friend has asked me to look into a suitable PAYG mobile for her 16 yo daughter.
It needs of course to be fashionable, and able to support browsing, Facebook updates, etc. I’ve suggested we look for something on O2 so we can use a Gifgaff sim due to their useful goodybags.

We have an absolute price limit of 150.00

Recommendations please?

On o2s website, they is the Xperia Mini Pro for £130 I think but you get a free £20 voucher for any shop or something.

The spec of this phone is very, very good for the price. It would be perfect if they are happy with a slide out keyboard and quite small touchscreen, 3" I think.

    I didn't answer on any of those threads, but a second-hand 'nearly-new' 3GS goes for £120 - £150 on Gumtree or eBay.

I have just bought one for my daughter.

When I'm buying a new payg phone, I usually tend to go to Phones4u as they are all unlocked. They have got the wildfire S for £130 which seems to be the standard price, but £150 from the o2 shop. If she's going for one of the touch screen phones, I would also go onto ebay and order some screen protectors and perhaps a gel case for it too, really saves on the wear and tear. Both me and my daughter have the older style wildfire, her's being about 4 months newer. While mine still looks brand new, her's is scratched and the case looks terrible

Blackberrys seem to be the choice of phone for that age range. My 15 year old daughter had a blackberry, but replaced it with an HTC. She now regrets it and wants to sell the HTC to get another blackberry.

The BBM and fast texting functions appear to be the major selling points to this age group.

So many phones, so many choices, so many opinions. Its a real minefield out there for phone choice. A bit like a woman in a chocolate shop and a £200 gift voucher :D

When I grow up I want to be unique, just like everyone else?
