I tried the Vodka chocs and I wasn't overly impressed.
To be fair, I wasn't really EXPECTING to like them (I find vodka a tad tasteless), but I thought I'd give them a try as they're so cheap.
The chocolate on them is pretty thin, and once you bite into them and the liquid oozes out, you're just left with the gritty, sugary inner coating which I'm not fond of.
I've had brandy liquer chocs from HB in the past and they were really nice with a thick chocolate coating and no horrible sugary inner coating. They were only 59p for a fair size box, but that was quite a while ago and I've never seen them again since.
If you're going to try the Vodka chocs, I'd say just buy the one box to see if you like them first. It's not worth clearing the shelves just because they're cheap then end up giving them away if you're not keen.
Made a special trip in to my local HB today to buy these and some of the other things that people have suggested on this thread. Picked up one box of the plain vodka ones, vodka with cranberry, and a pack of the Raffaello white chocs (for DD to try). Had put the vodka ones in the fridge and was quite looking forward to trying them out until I read your post!!!!!!:p Thanks for the advice - glad now I only bought one box of each. Cheers. By the way in my local HB they were selling Sainsbury's reporters notebooks 80 sheets for 10p. Picked up a few to keep by the side of the phone - useful for taking messages.

Ermmm ... ?
Can't think that anything that is ANTIBACTERIAL can be good for you so why make it taste nice ?
Does it say that your kids can drink a bottle full of this strawberry jelly and you should not be at all concerned ?
It seemed clear to me that the poster meant strawberry scented, and yes- antibacterial products are clearly preferable to bacteria (antibiotics being one example) - antibacterial gel is an occasional godsend, especially when travelling.0 -
Can't remember who posted this one originally but thank you whoever it was. Went in to my local HB today and found the Madras curry paste (that I usually buy in either Tesco or Asda) for about 39p a jar. I use it as a marinade and curry base. Thanks!!

Unfortunately without 99.999999% of the quadrillion bacteria that live inside each and every one of use we would all die.
Most of all the side effects from taking antibiotics is that they kill bacteria that we rely on to survive.
This stuff could seriously be very bad for you if ingested.

Hi ianonline. Have just sat down with a cup of tea and tried some of the vodka chocs. Have to say you are right. The vodka and choc is nice but do find the sugary inner coating a bit sickly. Never mind, they were worth a try.

Ravensthorpe had some Odd Pods cacti kits for £1.99 - RRP £20.
From age 5 upwards - I assume to ensure smaller kids don't grab them?

Yeah, I'm sticking with the "I can't believe it's not Toblerone" at 39p a bar - it won't give you an alcohol fix, but it's far more satisfying and you can buy some cheap plonk to wash it down if you're so inclined (or a cup of tea if you prefer).
Hi ianonline. A couple of people on this thread have referred to this Toblerone-like product but what does the packaging look like. I went into my local branch again today and looked but could not see any such product (and I wasn't drunk from the vodka chocs either). Perhaps mine don't stock it or may have sold out because MSE's forum dudes have bought it all!!!!

Clue about the not-toblerone - its not triangular!
Its long and thick, like a much bigger version of a yorkie.
Its in a cardboard sleeve with I think gold paper around it. Sorry I dont know the name but supplies here are delpleted. they were in the chocolate section ( near the cheap M&Ms !) but rather unhelpfully in Northampton they were sited long ways on- ie with the gold paper at the end showing. Only way I found them is cos I always look at the price before the product :rotfl::beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Thanks for enlightening me. Can't remember seeing anything like that in my local store today. If I get a chance and remember, I may try a bigger store when I'm in at work next week. Thanks.0
