My sister has been given 2 weeks notice - advice needed!

As far as I'm aware she doesn't have any arrears, but I could be wrong (she say she isn't but her boyfriend is the one who has been paying it in so there is always a chance he has excelled even his normal stupidity level!).

I'll post again once I've spoken to her and will recommend a visit to the CAB.

Since he has quoted a reason, sounds like a Section 8 as you said.

No, no one can be kicked out in 2 weeks even if you were months behind with the rent.

I dont think she can be kicked out at all if she has any children under 5 years old, check this out at your local council, they will be able to advise you further on this matter, report this to your local council and they might be able to give her some sort of housing asap, this very thing happened to me, 21 years ago, but the landlord couldnt get me out because I had a newborn baby, he only wanted me out so he could sell the property with no tenents, the B******D! but the council were made aware of the situation, and did regular checks on the property and found him to be a very awful man and gave me a council house straight away, guess I was lucky back in those days, plenty of houses to go round then.

Section 8 process:
Day 1 notice served giving grounds
Day 14 court date applied for
day 21+ court date
day 21++ eviction kids or not.

Only eviction on day 21 if the courts agree to it and if the landlord has employed a bailiff. They can't just be thrown out on the street.

Key thing here is; if the courts DO agree to it and the landlord HAS employed a bailiff - then they WILL be thrown out on the street, possibly within a month.

Best thing for her to do is visit the CAB urgently, as previously advised. Because they are a voluntary service they are unlikely to represent her - but they will point her in the right direction.
